Students for Development Internships in Uganda - Apply Now!

We are now accepting applications for the 2012 Students for Development Internship placements in Uganda.

There are two 3-month, funded positions available to current, full-time U of C students in their 3rd year or above (U of C Masters and PhD students are also welcome to apply). Students that will be graduating this June are not eligible to apply as students must be returning to the U of C for at least one semester upon completion of the placement.

Ideally, applicants should be majoring or minoring in Communications and/or Development Studies or in a health-related field, although students in other majors that are relevant to the Canadian International Development Agency’s priority theme of securing the future of children and youth are also encouraged to apply.

The application deadline is Monday, April 30, 2012. For more information on application requirements and for the application itself, please see http://www.ucalgary.ca/uci/abroad/sfd. A description of the positions is available at http://www.ucalgary.ca/uci/node/25303 and http://www.ucalgary.ca/uci/node/25305 has more information about the host organization, Healthy Child Uganda. For application information, please see http://www.ucalgary.ca/uci/node/25306.

If you have any questions about the placements, please don't hesitate to Ms. Anayancy Solis (solis@ucalgary.ca)

Volunteers Needed for upcoming conference:

The Future of Women's Studies in Alberta

What are the challenges and opportunities for women's studies programs in Alberta today? What does the state of women's studies in Alberta reveal about the future of academic feminism? What is the ideal relationship between academic programs on women and gender studies and campus-based women's centres? These are just a few of the questions that will be addressed in a fall 2012 symposium sponsored by the Office of the Advisor, the Women's Studies Program, and the Women's Resource Centre. The organizers of The Future of Women's Studies in Alberta are seeking volunteers who can contribute to the pre-symposium publicity, web design, and/or assist during the symposium. If you are interested, please contact Adrienne Kertzer akertzer@ucalgary.ca
