What is Asian Studies?

Asian Studies is offered in collaboration with various Arts departments and programs as well as using the resources of other faculties on campus. Each focus allows students a choice of a specific geographic region and to further explore their interests in possible fields such:

  • Anthropology
  • Art History
  • Developmental Studies
  • History
  • Literature
  • Philosophy
  • Political Science
  • Religion
  • various languages

Asia is rapidly developing economically and politically; it is becoming a major force in the world and a key region in the 21st century. Students will be able to explore the historic forces that propelled Asia into this development and gain insight to the changes taking place currently. As global relationships shift, multinationals expand, and both Government and Non-government agencies develop and promote cooperation and understanding, Asian Studies students will be preparing to step into an internationally active life.
